Ultimately, where the latest Saints Row game suffers the most is from an issue common among many older open-world titles — draw distance. And you’re going to need all the help you can get as you take on three new enemy factions, Los Panteros, The Idols, and Marshall Defense. If you want to rise to the top, you’re going to have your fair share of epic gunfights and high-speed chases, all wrapped up in that well known Saints Row humor. It wouldn’t be Saints Row without a bunch of glitches, but this latest outing–in pre-release, at least–often felt like a bit of a joke. It’s okay when it’s being hilariously stupid, but when it actively gets in the way of simple tasks, it’s a problem–for a game that seems to use the exact same engine as SR3 Remastered, albeit with prettier lighting, it shouldn’t be this way.

These are very, very minor technical complaints though, and do not detract from the overall quality and enjoyability of the game. Santo Ileso is also filled with plenty of interesting locales and dynamic events; NPCs will interact with each other and the environment in limited ways; police pull over cars; and signs of road work move around the city. However, the city as a whole doesn't always feel like an actual place. Despite the assortment of unique features, not every area feels hand-crafted or intentionally placed. It's a decidedly minor complaint but difficult to entirely dismiss when other modern open-world games continue to improve in this area. Take to the Streets and the Skies – Blast through urban and desert environments in any one of the cars, bikes, planes, helicopters, VTOLs, hoverbikes, hoverboards, go-karts or equip your wingsuit to swoop around. It's worth mentioning that there are loads of accessibility options, too, which exist alongside your standard difficulty settings. You can tweak incoming damage, the severity of time limits, autoaim, and more to suit your needs, while controller inputs can be remapped entirely. The Idols are legion and growing. They recruit constantly, using parties, raves, and social media to spread their message and bring in new members. They may not all be true believers—indeed, the majority of them may be a little unhinged. But that’s all right. Together, they have more than enough manpower to threaten any other faction in town. Like any cult, the Idols encourage their followers to shed their old identities and embrace the cult’s ideology.While we don’t know exactly what the day one patch will contain, the developer has provided a list of “known issues” that are presumably going to be targeted in upcoming patches. The Saints are not immortal war gods that use a city as their personal playthings while they rake in power. Instead, The Saints form from the bond between four young humans attempting to make it through a world that doesn't care much for them. Your Boss character is joined by Neenah, Eli, and Kevin, your lifelong friends and constant companions throughout the story.

In the GameRevolution review, I noted the problem with takedown animations occurring far away from the enemy. Unfortunately, this is not included in the list of known issues. Before two hard resets, Insurance Fraud missions actively removed all traffic as soon as they started, forcing me to run into parked cars to complete the first three challenges. In Mayhem, the camera went into a super-zoom mode in vehicles, making flying impossible (and forcing yet another hard reset).
