Prayer and Affirmations: Engaging in prayers, affirmations, or mantras focused on breaking the curse and invoking positive energies can be a powerful practice. This can involve reciting specific prayers or creating personalized affirmations that affirm your intention to release the curse’s grip and invite positive change into your life. She lifted her chin, voice low. “I grow so weary of pretentious kings thinking they have a say in my life. Consider me no longer your burden to bear. My fate is mine.”

Recurring Nightmares or Disturbing Dreams: A common characteristic of curses is the presence of unsettling dreams or nightmares that recur frequently. These dreams may involve shadows, thorns, or other dark and ominous symbols. Harness the Power of Light: Light is often considered a potent force against darkness. Surround yourself with light sources, such as candles or sunlight, and visualize the light penetrating and dispelling the shadows. Affirmations and visualizations that invoke light and positivity may also aid in breaking the curse of shadows and thorns. I was just very disappointed after all this build up tension, and all these cute encounters, to find the spice scene being like all other spice scenes in all the other spicy books. The Enduring Legacy The Curse of Shadows and Thorns leaves behind a legacy that transcends its fictional boundaries. It serves as a reminder that darkness can be confronted and conquered through acts of love, courage, and self-discovery. This story encourages introspection, prompting readers to reflect on their own shadows and thorns while striving to nurture their inner light. His hair was paler like Timorans, my people. But his skin and eyes glimmered with the unique dark shade of Ettans, the people mine enslaved during the raids.” Seek Professional Assistance: If you believe you are under a curse and find it challenging to break its effects on your own, consider seeking professional assistance. Consult experienced spiritual practitioners, energy healers, or shamans who specialize in curse removal or spiritual cleansing. Their expertise and guidance can provide additional support and insights tailored to your specific situation. The ending was surprising! I love it when books suprise me like this and have a lot it things that you didn’t see coming. The book was, again, quite good, I LOVE the characters, seriously, I really like them and their relationships, their development, I am sure i will miss them, after finishing book three. Themes of Sacrifice and Redemption Elara’s quest isn’t just a physical journey—it’s a spiritual and emotional one as well. Along the way, she discovers that the curse thrives on fear, negativity, and despair. Her acts of selflessness, compassion, and courage begin to unravel the curse’s hold. By confronting the sorceress with an act of pure love and forgiveness, Elara breaks the curse’s foundation and sets in motion the garden’s restoration.

Since I read The Ever King the other day I was intrigued by the story of Livia’s parents. So I began their trilogy. Physical Afflictions: The Curse of Shadows and Thorns is often associated with physical manifestations. The cursed person may experience unexplained physical pain, discomfort, or ailments that resist conventional treatment. Thorn-like scratches or marks on the skin may also be reported. While specific rituals or practices to break the Curse of Shadows and Thorns may vary depending on cultural beliefs and personal preferences, here are a few examples that are commonly associated with dispelling curses in general: The pace of the plot is strange, it goes from a really good pace that I was lapping up, to being incredibly slow and moving nowhere to again speeding through the end. Long ago, Elise's ancestors stole the crown from the fae king. As the niece of the brutal, current king, her purpose is to do whatever is asked to ensure her family keeps the throne for centuries to come. The trouble is, Elise would rather sneak into gambling halls with the servants than be a silent princess at a ball.My last peeve with the writing was the fact that all the other characters could be referred to by their first name ALONE. But LEGION GREY is 90% of the time mentioned with his full name. There are 74 instances in the book where his full name are mentioned (I read this as an ebook so could easily count the search)… a few instances of a full name are fine, but after about 13 my skin started crawling when I saw it. The worldbuilding also seems strange. I still don’t think I fully understand how the Fae and their magic tie into the story or how their magic works. A lot of their history is told, not shown through actual “history lessons” disguised as journal entries. And all I can see when I read the word Ettan is two headed giants, not people who have magic. The name of magic is also called fury but then it is given multiple other names and it becomes blurry. The world LJ has created for The Broken Kingdoms series is also truly taking shape in this book. The questions I had after book one were answered. We were given some delicious plot twists, and although I have to wait a few more hours to get home again, I'm already extremely excited to start the next book in this series.

The plot also really doesn’t go anywhere, it’s almost like most of this could have just been added to book 1 (to make it longer than it was) and made this a duology, instead of have us suffer through a book with “middle book syndrome.” This book is what you get when you take a pinch of Viking lore and mix it with a dash of Beauty and the Beast. From an enjoyment point of view, I did like this but I wish this book was a little longer. It’s short, it’s been a long time since I’ve read a book this short… I think this is what kept it from being great and settling it on just good. There wasn’t enough put into the character development or plot to take it to that next level that it had the potential to be so it feels like it’s missing something. Acts of Love and Kindness: Counteract the curse of shadows and thorns’s negative energies by engaging in acts of love, compassion, and kindness. Cultivate positive relationships, help others in need, and foster a sense of gratitude. Creating a positive and harmonious environment can create a shield against the curse’s influence. When her uncle holds the life of her deathly-ill father over her head, reluctantly, Elise puts her fate into the hands of Legion Grey, the handsome and mysterious dowry negotiator. He may be arrogant and infuriating, but soon Legion incites a blistering, forbidden passion she can’t ignore.Legion was fantastic! I kinda guessed his twist but the reveal was still very anxiety-inducing though. He's a tortured morally grey hero and I can't wait for him to make me question why I'm still on his side. He's hot okay? That's all you need to know 😅 The world building I think needs the most help, this is supposed to have Vikings in it and I’m not getting that at all from this. You can make the characters use Norse terms, braid their hair and carry hatchets into battle, but it doesn’t make them Vikings. Sorry 🤷‍♀️. I don’t buy it. This book introduces a split POV for both Valen and Elise and while it does help give a little more character development for the two, I often found myself confused by whose internal monologue I was reading. Often the voice of the characters blended together a little two easily or weren’t as distinctly different that I had to think hard or reread sections to remember if this was from Valen or Elise’s POV. Isolation and Alienation: Under the curse of shadows and thorns’s influence, the individual may feel increasingly isolated from others. Relationships may suffer, leading to a sense of loneliness and an inability to connect with loved ones or find support. The Malevolent Sorceress The catalyst for the curse is a powerful sorceress driven by a relentless pursuit of power and eternal youth. Driven by her desires, she weaves shadows into thorns and infuses them into the roots of the golden apple tree. This sinister act plunges the garden into darkness, casting a pall over its once-glorious beauty.

L. J. loves to write in the morning before anybody’s awake, what with running a business, and eating way too much chocolate. And while this story is interesting (and the audio good enough), I’m not yet sold on this series nor the author’s talent of storytelling. It was a bit slow going tbh. Of course, with me having read the spin-off first, the big plot twist came as no surprise to me but I tried to not let it influence my judgement. She goes by a pen name because it’s a little fun having an alternate identity. And the name was formed by people that are dear to her heart. She has been writing ever since she was able to spell, and thankfully all this time later her writing has improved.Within the realm of folklore and mythology, there were many intriguing curses among them, the Curse of Shadows and Thorns stands out as a mysterious and enigmatic phenomenon.
