About this deal

Dee: You're crazy! Who are you to talk about love? You don't even know me! Nobody can live like you say! It's inhuman! Sorry, but I just thought the story was incredibly meh. I didn't hate-hate it, but I'm sure as shit not reading any more of it. To be very honest, I just didn't like this incarnation of Wonder Woman at all. The explanation for the state of the world was weird, and several things seemed completely out of character for Diana. The humans huddled together were (to me) a very throwaway group that I didn't care about at all. And the battle at the end wasn't very gripping. It felt like every other story I've ever read about how our warmongering and pollution will eventually end us. The Great Fire was an enraged and unrestrained Wonder Woman fighting Superman at high speeds, leading to other places on Earth getting destroyed in the process. Diana's strength greatly weakened due to her burnout from the fight.

In March 2020, following the success of Batman: White Knight (2017–2018) and Batman: Curse of the White Knight (2019–2020), both comics created by Sean Murphy, it was reported that DC was interested in creating a mini-imprint centered around Murphy's works. [59] Referred to as the "Murphyverse", the imprint intends to feature limited series set in the shared universe first established in the White Knight series. [60] The main line titles in this universe have been written and drawn by Murphy himself, with spin-offs being written and drawn by other creators. Even though he didn't have the powers of many of his meta-human Justice League teammates, Batman rarely stops fighting, and that's what makes this death all the more heartbreaking. And now not only has Hippolyta’s desires for her child brought the apocalypse, but Diana is now able to be hurt by that same world. It’s the fears that every parent feels for their child. That something will go wrong. That the world will hurt their child like it hurt them. That they will be the cause of pain for their children in ways they never wanted. Brooke, David (April 12, 2023). DC Announces New Psychological Thriller Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity" (Press release). DC Comics. July 2, 2019. This take on an angry, hurting, and volatile Wonder Woman is one I love in theory, but in execution, it feels weak. I don’t know if having a woman write this story would’ve solved the issues I have with it...but it definitely wouldn’t have hurt. Johnson gives a solid attempt at doing something unique, and he succeeds in that he capitalizes on his setting, but he fails in his attempts to weave meaningful thematics. When Diana awakens from a centuries-long sleep, she discovers Earth has been reduced to a nuclear wasteland. Now she's marooned in a dark and dangerous future, protecting the last human city from titanic monsters and struggling to uncover the secret of this dead Earth…and how she may be responsible for it.

The Last God #1–12, The Last God: Tales from the Book of Ages #1 and The Last God: Songs of Lost Children #1 While Bruce Wayne strikes fear in villains, has survived fights against Wonder Woman and Superman and is a founding member of the Justice League, he is still only human. Despite training, advanced technology and an unflinching moral compass, there are certain things even the best of the human race cannot survive, nuclear warfare being one of them.Princess Diana of Themyscira left paradise to save Man's World from itself. When Wonder Woman awakens from a centuries-long sleep to discover the Earth reduced to a nuclear wasteland, she knows she failed. Trapped alone in a grim future, Diana must protect the last human city from titanic monsters while uncovering the secret of this dead Earth--and how she may be responsible for it. Dead Earth” is human emotions and global fears rendered on an extreme scale. This has all been the story of what it means when you realize how terrible the world can be and your own capacity for destruction and how you decide to move on from that. One of the things I like about writing Diana is her willingness to put herself on the line,” said Johnson. “She has this loving character about her, which you don’t really see in Superman or Batman. Wonder Woman is not afraid to say ‘I love you.’” There are lots of great moments making this one allmost a five stars read, but I'm afraid I had to be far more familiar with Wonder Woman character to give that score.
