Description

The mids of the S12 Pro are commendable. With the silicone eartips, both male and female vocals are clear and well-pronounced. However, they seem slightly recessed to me. This could be because the elevated bass and treble create an illusion of the mids being recessed. Nonetheless, the IEM's performance in the midrange is quite satisfactory. When I listen to Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me" and Michael Bolton's "When A Man Loves A Woman", the vocals sound relatively forward, but not overly so, and come across as powerful and strong. I can feel the depth in their voices and the natural high notes achieved at the height of their vocal ranges. The S12 Pro have a tinge less natural timbre, but their included cable has modular options for various balanced and unbalanced connectors, which isn’t included with the Talos’ accessories. Vs. A 2-pin connection is highlighted by this protruding section on the faceplate of the S12 Pro and is flush with the overall build. For a pair of planar IEMs, the S12 Pro are relatively easy to drive, but they scale with amplification. With more juice, tighter, extended bass and better dynamics are heard. Frequency response graph of the S12 Pro via IEC711 compliant coupler. The 8 kHz area is a coupler artefact peak. The LetShuoer S12 Pro comes inside a pretty minimalistic rectangular box that is wrapped with a cardboard that shows the illustration and some product related brandings on the front specification at the bottom.

The brilliance range is composed entirely of harmonics and is responsible for sparkle and air of a sound. The S12 Pros excel in its treble extension to my ears. The treble renders music with such openness but also very good resolution. What you get is shimmering, sparkle of minutia in your music, it just sounds great. As with the bass the treble stands out for the definition, naturalness, and decay of the notes.

Surprisingly power efficient even despite the planar driver it’s carrying. I find myself not pushing too much gain to power these to get to my preferred volume. Planars like the S12 Pro really makes me think that with great implementation, you can get a planar that can be easily run. Letshuoer Audio 𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆. In using a newer nozzle filter that is what Letshuoer is doing to create a newer “pro” version by lowering these aspects for better balance but then you throw on a more resolving silver plated monocrystalline copper cable? You see what I am getting at? I suppose you have to be really into your cable pair ups to fully understand what I am talking about. Bright +more resolving cable = Brighter. The Talos are no slouch in timbre, but of the planar challengers, the Zetian Wu have the best timbral accuracy of the lot.The LetShuoer S12 Pro has a lower midrange tuning that offers a good sense of depth and fullness, while listen to vocals or to instruments such like an acoustic guitar or viola. Moreover, it shows a good sense of clarity and resolution in this area, which shows how good the lows are handled by the Planar Magnetic Driver.

Review: LETSHUOER S12 Pro - PLANARy Session - Headphonesty

There certainly is an emphasis in this region but that rise doesn’t ever come close to muddy or cross the midrange line adversely. I really enjoy the output here. I grew up on bass and I always need at least a generous portion so long as there is some semblance of control. The S12P is all control, all the time, without being overbearing or exhausting after long stretches of listening. Resolution and clarity are very nice in this region with a tidy and clean response. Well done, Letshuoer! Midrange Low-Mids It is boosted here but it mainly adds some kind of a metallic - artificial hue to the treble that being fatiguing. However, like most other planar IEMs, the shells are on the larger side to accommodate the drivers. In practice, I’ve experienced more fit issues with the 7Hz Timeless, and especially the Moondrop Stellaris, so the ergonomics are pretty well-designed on the Talos. The Talos are actually one of the better fitting planar IEMs. InternalsResolution, detail and soundstage - I kinda get where the hype comes from, as the resolving ability of the S12 is astonishing, especially at this price range. I think it's even more accurate and detailed than Sundara. The soundstage is just average, S12 plays pretty much in your head, and I think this is fairly standard in an IEM, but the recessed mids make everything sound thin and small. Good bass and treble extension makes up for it a little bit. Instrument separation is quite good, but not as impressive as expected, since Shuoer S12 sounds rather smooth and the tuning is more fun than analytical. The Mids themselves are very well defined and mildly there is a hint of warmth, with a fine texture and pleasant details. I found them not shouty and no harshness. The S12 Pro are a bright pair of IEMs; make no bones about it. They have moderate treble extension, sparkle, and air, but for longer listening sessions, treble-sensitive folk might have an issue. The well extended bass has a near neutral tuning without over emphasizing the mid-bass so it doesn't cloud the rest of frequencies and leaves plenty of free space for the mids to shine. The same goes for the IMR EDP and EDP Ace, again like the I3s, the EDPs have been overshadowed by the S12 Pros for me. The EDP Ace however, comes fairly close with its DD bass and the note decay probably aided by piezo, the Planar Magnetic driver, if not the design of the chamber. What happens though is that the timbre is just a touch metallic and artificial while the S12 PRO is not that resolving and refined in the treble as in the mid range. With a near reference tuning and a good suit of technicalities, the bass is one of the S12 PRO strongest points.
