About this deal

This Wolf-Garten model uses a 4:1 pulley system which makes pruning larger branches possible without having you use too much effort. The pole that comes with the lopper is adjustable, from 1.7m to 3.0m in length. One small criticism would be with the number of plastic components on the pruners. Both the extender mechanism, and the cutting head angle adjuster, are plastic, which seems less durable than if all the important parts were made from metal.

Telescopic Handle Darlac Expert 4.9 Metre Extendable Pole – Telescopic Handle

The grip at the end of the handle is also an actuating ball which can be pulled to close the blades and perform a cut. This way both hands can hold the pole pruner at the very end for maximum reach, and one hand can pull on the orange handle at the base to work the blade action. Quite innovative! The 32mm 6m Telescopic Tree Pruner FSK1023624 is an ideal telescopic tree pruner for trade professionals as well as DIY enthusiasts. This tool is designed to provide an extended reach for cutting fresh wood with a diameter of up to 32mm. The telescopic shaft length is adjustable from 2.4m to 4m, therefore giving the user a maximum reach of 6m with a 230° adjustable cutting head. The handles are durable soft-grip handles with a non-slip base to ensure optimal comfort and reduced tiring when using the pruners. These pruners adjustability makes them versatile and allows access to tree crowns and dense bushes as well as allowing gardeners to trim overhead without the need of a ladder or at ground level without having to bend or kneel. This is a single pruner, supplied on its own. Product Highlights: The presence of a motor increases its weight, so it’s not the lightest pruner at 3.8 kg, but there is a shoulder included to help make it more manageable. Whilst the strap does help to some extent, using the RPP750S still requires a fair amount of upper body strength. The chain-drive gearing provides maximum cutting power, allowing for a 3x greater cutting force to be exerted by the blade. When the extension pole is in position, this pruner can be harder to manage because the motor (and therefore the majority of the weight) is at the far end of the pole. The GARDENA Telescopic StarCut 410 Plus tree pruner provides effortless manual cutting of your tree branches on all fronts. This pruner is classed as a lopper, so it works with a scissor-like motion rather than as a saw. For those who wish to orient their bypass action pruners the ‘right way’ when pruning, with the bright orange jaw, it’s really easy even high in a tree where visibility is not the best. With a blade that cuts and holds whatever gets pruned, the ARS 160ZP Long Reach Pruner is great for dead-heading, manicuring and harvesting. Instead of instantly dropping the pruned material on the spot, where it will never be found again, the blades allow you to have more control over where it will be placed.

Product Review – Fiskars UPX82 PowerGear X Tree Pruner Product Review – Fiskars UPX82 PowerGear X Tree Pruner

The handle is ergonomically shaped for comfortable holding, and has a durable, orange soft-grip coating that has an almost slightly rubbery grip. To make it easier to cut stems that are in awkward positions, the top section of these pruners can be adjusted, giving you greater manoeuvrability and allowing you to reach specific stems. The reason for choosing this particular product to review is that I’ve owned and used the really long Fiskars UP86 Universal Telescopic Tree Pruner Model # 115560 for somewhere close to ten years now, so it’s a quality brand that I trust, but a 2.4m (8’) long pole pruning tool is not ideal for smaller jobs or for use in restricted spaces, so I was keen to try the shorter, non-extending Fiskars pole pruners for that kind of work, and I wanted to see what design improvements they made on an already excellent product. Nevertheless, weighing just under 1 kg, it’s one of the best telescopic tree pruners in terms of manageability; not only because it’s easy to hold, but also because it’s well balanced and allows good control whilst pruning.

They come with a 330 mm saw which gives the user extra cutting power on larger branches, although it’s worth noting that this saw is a little weak and not particularly effective. The saw also occasionally gets caught on branches and needs to be removed. Other pole pruners use an external rope attached externally to the cutter head to activate the blade, which can tangle in branches, and requires one hand to hold the rope, leaving only one hand on the pole. With a rope-free design and a sliding handle on the shaft, this allows for more precise two-handed control and more power when making the pruning cut. The handle extends from 1.37 m to 2.5 m, so you can neaten up hedges as well as tall trees. Weighing just 1 kg in total, it’s easy to use these pruners comfortably for long periods of time.

We have an anvil lopper in our review, the Wolf Garten Anvil Tree Pruner. Anvil loppers have a blade that closes against a metal anvil that’s on the lower jaw and is softer than the blade. Anvil loppers require less manual power on your part to operate than other kinds of loppers. However, anvil loppers tend to crush the material they cut, so only use them where you don’t need a clean cut. For instance, when you’re shortening a branch before cutting it off entirely. Saws Fiskars UPX82 PowerGear X Tree Pruner, a super-sturdy and lightweight, ergonomically-designed pole pruner for easy cutting in all directions Instead of allowing free adjustability between its lengths, you can only one of three positions: no extension, half extended or fully extended. Therefore, there are some limitations.

Here’s the completed tree, pruned down to around 2m (6’) high, a much more manageable and very productive height for home garden fruit trees. Type:Telescopic Pruner Brand:Fiskars Category:Extension Poles & Top Pruners Height:2300mm Width:74mm Depth:112mm Weight:1.9kg MPN:1023624 Before and after photographs below show the pruning of a white sapote tree that pruned with just the short pole pruner in minutes!Telescopic tree pruners are relatively easy to use, but it’s still important that you take safety precautions. Even small branches can cause a lot of damage if they fall and hit you in the eye. And don’t worry about being able to keep hold of the handle on this model – there’s a non-slip coating to grip on the two orange handles and the actual system works really well. The Fiskars UPX82 PowerGear X Tree Pruner is a sturdy and durable European-made quality gardening tool with a very refined ergonomic design, which they’ve even improved over the previous model. Its light weight makes it very manageable for repeated precise, accurate cuts in very high, low or inaccessible branches, without making it tiring to hold for long periods. In fact, its ergonomic design combined with its light weight make it an absolute delight to use.
