About this deal

Our luxury bedding is hand-crafted and designed to the highest quality, appearing both practical and stylish. Bumpers sit around the edge of the crate cushion to provide a super-soft wall of comfort for your pooch. All our bumpers and cushions feature waterproof linings in case of any accidents. They are made from a combination of salmon, banana, berries, and apples to provide nutrients, fibre, vitamins, and minerals that are essential to keep your pet fit and healthy. Salmon is rich in protein, essential for lean muscle development while berries are a good source of antioxidants that supports the overall wellbeing and the wet nose of your dog.

James: I like to think that if people want to give it a go and try to succeed, then you can in any role. Learning stuff is the easy bit if you love it, so drive and enthusiasm is really important. Nathan: For us, it is important to put sustainability and quality ahead of financial interest. One of our huge inspirations in business is Virgin and the Branson family. With such success and platform, the fact that they take the time to focus on supporting charities and helping start-ups reach their potential is amazing. The work they’ve done via Virgin Startup, for example, has been a lifeline for us and other entrepreneurs. How would you describe your leadership style? Nathan: For us, the key thing you should ask yourself as a business is – am I helping or hurting? Rightly, society now expects businesses to stand for more than just a healthy bottom line.James: David Attenborough. My sister used to buy me his documentaries on DVD as gifts. I would watch them on repeat! James: Also for a beer that doesn’t contain yeast please! Somebody help? What’s your favourite time of day? Nathan: Denzel’s was born to satisfy these needs while having a positive impact on the environment and its supply chain, rather than damaging it. And we’re still focused on driving this forward to create better alternatives for dog owners. Did you have a hero when you were younger?

James: I would love to see businesses improve across all areas to meet the positive values of their customers. In 2020, we saw how many issues are caused by plastic, unsustainable processes and not putting people, and doing the right thing, first. I would love to see this change for the better. James: I think that 2020 was a very difficult year for many businesses but, due to that, there was time to reflect and appreciate the positive things that people can do when they come together to help one another. More emphasis on community. James: I think it is important to be able to do both when running a small business and gritty start-up. You need to be able to balance detail with not getting caught up in things that don’t make a real difference to the big picture. Easier said than done!

Nathan: I am unsure, but I suspect that people would say that I do. I can’t sit still for long! Who do you admire in business and in life generally? James: We are both pretty similar in this aspect. There are many business leaders out there who inspire us, as they continually put doing the right thing ahead of their own interests. Nathan: I agree with James (or could say “What he just said!”). Do you think business is valued by society? Nathan: Michelangelo from the Ninja Turtles. He was awesome – he messed around, everyone loved him and got to eat pizza all the time while the rest did all the work. Hero! Do you have one now? We would like to think that we bring value and joy to our customers and have built in sustainability and accountability from the start. We want to leave pets and their owners happier for interacting with us – and make a positive impact on our industry by encouraging better sustainability and eco practices.

Nathan: For small businesses and people affected by 2020/21 to recover from the tough times we’ve seen. James: We both studied Animal Science and Nutrition at Nottingham University, sparking our interest in the pet food business. After both spending several years in the industry, we saw a need for a younger business that focused on healthier, better quality, locally sourced and eco-friendly alternatives that could meet the needs of health conscious and millennial pet owners.

Nathan: I think there will be a big rise in small to medium businesses that put purpose before profit. Whether that is focusing on their environmental impact or people. How would you like business to change from 2021 onwards?
