About this deal

Lexington, Ky.- During the presentation of the 2022 USEF Eventing Dressage Tests at the USEA Annual Meeting & Convention, changes were discussed to help further clarify the movement requirements in the tests. Marilyn Payne, chair of the Test Writing Task Force, worked with the USEF to clarify the language used within the movements, without substantive changes to the movements themselves. FEI has made minor changes in their 2022 Eventing tests in CCI 1* M3,9, 5*A M12,14,19, 5*B M16 for clarification that do not affect the diagrams. Tests remain in effect for at least 4 years from the “Title Year” printed on each Test. These tests can be used for training or showing purposes. Western Dressage Rules and Tests are based in Dressage fundamentals and showcase applications for the Working Western Horse. Our Western Dressage Tests are designed with progressive elements to showcase the developing skill of horse and rider. The WDAA 2017 tests were retired March 1, 2022. Only WDAA 2022 tests can be used in western dressage classes.

Some of the test movements and Collective Marks have coefficients associated with them which means they are worth two times the points The FEI have notified modifications to a number of the Senior and Childrens Tests Effective 1 Jan 2020. Level 2 Freestyle: 1/7/2022 Movement 10 has had the verbiage "through the jog" removed. And now states only "Simple change of lead". Level 5 Test 1: 12/10/2021 Added "Left Lead" to movement #1 to clarify the lead to take from the halt.Ask a friend to video or consider investing in something like Pivo to video you and your horse riding your test (don't be hard on yourself) and focus on the pattern and your timing so you can be prepared for each movement. Dressage arena diagrams (for large and small arenas) show each complete test movement with its test text and directive from the Judges POV. The following tests have been updated for the 2023competition season. Tests include the version date to ensure you are in possession of the latest update.

Key information such as the new requirements, average ride time, and maximum points are provided for each test. Search for videos online of people riding your test and watch the pattern (don't judge the riding :-) ). This Android phone/tablet app is designed to help WDAA western dressage Judges become familiar with a test . It is also a useful, easy to carry, refresher and reference for Judges.Note: The 2021 Dressage Illustrated FEI Eventing Judges book has an error in 5* Test A M20. The circle should be ridden in working canter. The clear and concise visual diagrams make it easier to switch between dressage tests and to refresh the test in your mind before riding it. If you are a visual learner it may be hard to memorize your dressage test from only a call sheet. I find that by diagramming the test side-by-side with the movement description, it helps me memorize the test better. I hope it helps you too.

The 2022 USEF Intermediate Test C, which is written for use in a 20x40 arena, may only be used for eventing competitions that demonstrate a topographical or logistical hardship which renders the venue unable to assemble a 20x60 arena in the designated competition area. The process to request permission to use this test can be found here. The app provides all four tests (1,2,3,4) in a Level for the 2022 WDAA Dressage Tests Introductory Level through Level 5, Freestyle tests for all levels, and Equitation tests. What can you expect from these new tests? One change is the addition of a Test C at the Modified through Intermediate level, allowing competitions the opportunity to utilize three different tests throughout the competition season. US Equestrian (USEF) and the United States Eventing Association (USEA) have announced the publication of the new 2022 USEF Eventing Dressage Tests for Beginner Novice through Advanced which will be used from December 1, 2021 through November 30, 2025. Be your own horse! Find an open space such as your barn aisle, a conference room, an empty tennis court, or a patch of sand on the beach. Mark out a mini dressage arena with a 1:3 dimension ratio. Walk, trot and canter your test in your mini arena. Ignore the looks you get from the people around you! There are also five marks given at the end of each test called the Collective Marks: Gaits, Submission, Impulsion, Rider’s Seat and Position, and Rider's Correct and Effective Use of Aids. If you have a relatively flat outdoor space you would like to use for a dressage arena, here is a Facebook post I did about how I set up an arena in one of our fields.
