About this deal

Overall Pace of Story: Not the best. I skimmed a good bit for the last 1/4ish because it dragged and I no longer cared all that much.

It was a (slow burn 🔥) for those who like those types of stories, and fare warning; for those readers who happen to dislike those types of stories … as I’m aware there are plenty of you guys going around. And yet being one of the latter - as mentioned above, I can say there was saving graces of hints of sexiness all around to sate the parched pallet… fortunately, thank you Jesus 🙌🏾 🤭 What a weak “hero”. 🙄 we are told that he loves the sister so much that the thought of marrying his best friend (her sister) is insane to him. Yet this is the same girl that he can’t stand to go without talking to and has sexy dreams about. Then without much of a fight on his part, they go through with the wedding and then like a week later he is confessing how much he loves her? Gag me.At this point I have to say when Sebastian York is paired up with other female narrators other than my personal favourite, I tend to skip through the chapters. Lucy Rivers however, did a good job with her characters and I enjoyed listening to her voice overall. Where do I even start? I loved many parts of this book but similarly I was irritated/rankled by some of the things.

See that distraught looking woman who is having an unusually hard time ringing the doorbell? That's me, Vivanna Grace Hudson. A twenty-four-year old with shoulder length copper hair, an unhealthy obsession with marzipan fruits and also, has the self-confidence of a table lamp. Then that scene when they are at her parents house and her sister is in the next room and she tells him that she’s heartbroken from all years of listening to him have sex with his sister next door so he proceeds to have loud, rough sex to one-up that past history? JUST NO. Listen, I love a well-done kinky scene (LOVE THEM) but this was not it. It felt cheap and degrading. For five years, Ares and Hannah have been in a relationship, and they push off their wedding three times because Hannah is a top actor. She never told the public about her relationship with Aries. When they decided to marry the fourth time, she went to Ares and told him to push off the wedding again because doing films was more important to her. There is so much ANGST in this book... like to the extreme that it's mentioned as a "trigger warning" at the start of the book. I am pretty sure this is one of the factors that influenced why I loved this so much as I could physically feel the tension and emotional baggage these characters have and seeing how they dealt with their soap opera ridiculous life was predictable but entertaining. But don’t worry, he supposedly had feelings for the h the whole time 🤡 he just didn’t quite know it 🙄… he’s just so so romantic 🥴 besides, the ow kept cheating on him and he just laid around with her because “He DoEsNt LoVe HeR” 🫢🫢🫢I’m also not convinced that ‘he loved her all along’ line. That was too unbelievable with all the ‘Hannah Hannah’ chanting. every chapter was the exact same: raven (fmc) gets insecure about ares’ (mmc) past relationship with her sister. she voices her worries, they have a long talk, they sleep together. her sister shows up and flirts with ares, and she gets uncertain all over again. they have the same talk, they sleep together. repeat ten thousand times!! I turned around, I took a deep breath and reluctantly pressed onto the bell. The doors opened a few moments later, and there she was. Her face lit up within seconds. The story starts with Raven, a gorgeous top model and a part of the Windsor family because of Sierra (her best friend).
