Highly recommend this hotspot especially if there is no fast cabled internet in your area or if you traveling or RVing (which I am doing). Not 5G as 3G and 4G. 2.4 and 5 Ghz are bandwith like if you have a cordless phone/ wireless heaphones etc. for me the 5 Ghz is faster that the 2.4 but sometime causes interference/noise in my headphones. You can use both wifi and Rj45 cable. So far I have setup 6 of these for friends and family in a rural Northern California area. These people were either on Hughesnet satellite, bridged Network’s or at the end of DSL lines where max speeds were 3m down and 256k up and streaming Netflix was impossible. Everyone is ecstatic with this device and constantly tell me how happy they are with this setup.
Where I live, my only choices for high speed internet is dsl with a phone company that will never get my business again, or over cel phone towers. This router, along with a 3rd party ISP (NOT the isp these are branded for) works great for home internet that can be taken along while traveling. Anywhere there is cel phone service I have internet service. On the battery side, we were not disappointed. Because the M1 is a little larger than other hotspots, it’s also got room for a larger battery. We also recommend doing a walk test of the location to find the strongest cellular signal, which will generally result in best performance. Another method is to use your smartphone as a guide - wherever you tend you have the best cellular performance (i.e., voice quality and/or data service), your NETGEAR mobile router will often also work best in those locations. Not getting any answers from the RV parks in Arizona I decided to find my own solution. 4G is plenty fast for myself. At any rate my cell carrier limits me to 60GB per month, with the threat of throttling my speed if I surpass that. I probably will based on what I use now, about 3GB per day.
