Powerful Illumination: With a maximum output of 1300 lumens, this small flashlight delivers a bright beam that illuminates your surroundings with clarity and detail, ensuring excellent visibility in various situations. I think this alignment of the switch LEDs is pretty normal… if you’re expecting them to be on… some… other axis, then this might not be the light for you. Versatile Lighting Modes: The SC32 HCRI offers multiple lighting modes, including moonlight, low, medium, high, turbo and strobe, allowing you to choose the appropriate brightness level for different tasks or environments. There is also a USB-A to USB-C charging cable included, which is a good one to use, as the charging port is recessed and in somewhat of a tight space. If the plastic head around the USB-C plug is too wide, it won’t fit.
There’s just one version of the Sofirn SC31T tactical flashlight. It’s available with or without an 18650 though. Of course, there are other SC31 versions, including the SC31 Pro which I have reviewed. Also, just a regular SC31, which I’ve also reviewed. Price The Sofirn SP35 ATR flashlight is controlled by a single switch. It’s an e-switch on the side of the head. Th e Sofirn SC31T retains the SC31 series single 18650 lithium-ion battery configuration. Sofirn could have gone with a 21700 cell to bring it into the 21st Century, but I like the 18650 form factor in this light since it keeps the size and weight down. If you want extra runtime, you can easily swap in a high capacity 18650 like a Sanyo GA or Samsung 35E and go on down the road. Okay, we all know Sofirn is an OEM factory making lights under their own brand, and making them for other companies (Wurkkos, and masquerading for Astrolux occasionally). Either way, they’re a popular brand. My first unmodified flashlight was a Sofirn SP10S I bought in early 2020, and this is a good illustration of how Sofirn has become firmly entrenched in the flashlight enthusiast’s repertoire.Runtime tests were conducted using the 30 cm integrating sphere with the Digi-Sense 20250-00 data logging lux meter calibrated using several lights of known output. I used the included fully charged 3000 mAh 18650 battery for each test and tested Turbo, High, and Medium modes. I’d consider this one a good beater light. The numbers for candela were obtained with a UNI-T UT383S luxmeter at 5 and 15 meters, then averaged. Low was measured at 1 meter. I’m not sure how they measured their runtime with this light, because their high and turbo numbers are nowhere near what I got for ANSI or shut off. On a positive note, my runtimes were much longer than what Sofirn specified. Mode
This light definitely needs thermal recalibration. I set the room temperature to [accurate] – 22°C. Then I set the temperature limit to around 55°C. That means there’s a broad range of operating temperatures for the light to work – from room temp 22°C, all the way to 55°C.Unfortunately, it is important to note that the Sofirn SC32 underperforms by about 25% all around. In reality, the visual difference between 1500 and 2000 lumens is hard to discern, but what’s advertised and how it actually does are different things.
