About this deal

Platform 7 will be an ITVX premiere, exclusive to ITV’s new free streaming service, many months ahead of linear transmission on the ITV1 main channel. Fremantle will handle the international distribution of the drama. I'm thrilled to be working with Dancing Ledge Productions on the haunting thriller, Platform7,an adaptation of Louise Doughty’s brilliant novel," says Polly. Overall a good read that in my personal subjective opinion could do with a more hefty edit - beginning and ending magnificently but losing cohesion at the centre.

Platform Seven is beautifully written I sank into the writing of it - and the premise was clever and involving. Told from the point of view of a ghost, haunting a train station, there is a mix of mystery and drama that was immediately engaging. Platform 7 is an upcoming British four-part psychological thriller television series based on the 2019 novel Platform Seven by Louise Doughty, adapted by Paula Milne and developed by Dancing Ledge Productions for ITVX. Williams’s ninth novel, This is Happiness is set in the fictional village of Faha, in west Clare, Ireland. The narrator, Noel, now a 78-year-old man, recounts the experiences of his youth in the late 1950s, when a young Noel has withdrawn from the seminary and been sent to stay with his grandparents. Meanwhile, electricity is finally arriving in the village. This is a story of faith, youth, and first love, but also a careful portrayal of the village itself, and the daily lives of the parishioners who live in it, in a world on the cusp of change. The British author has written fiction and non-fiction during her career and her novels Apple Tree Yard and Crossfire have both been adapted for the screen in recent years. Darren discusses his learning objectives for the day with his practice supervisor. Darren provided his supervisor with an in-depth level of understanding of the health status of all three women, clearly explaining the physical, mental and social aspects of their care and the interaction of their medications. He spoke about evidence that he had read concerning audit results of infection control in wounds and guidelines for treating the wound. Darren also recognised that a couple of people in his care were experiencing nausea, so he chose to research the evidence of anti-emetics and the length of time people should be ideally nil by mouth. He also discusses the priorities for care and how he is going to coordinate and organise the work in the bay with the other staff and students. I’m super excited to be taking the lead in this amazing psychological thriller, based on Louise Doughty’s phenomenal best-selling novel. I’m also thrilled that I get to show audiences a completely different side to what I can do on screen with this character.” Dancing Ledge Productions’ Managing Director, Chris Carey (The Responder, The Salisbury Poisonings), was executive producer on the drama alongside the company’s CEO, Laurence Bowen (The Responder, The Salisbury Poisonings) and BAFTA winning executive producer Kate Triggs (A Very British Scandal, The Trial of Christine Keeler). Paula Milne and Louise Doughty were also executive producers.

Chris Carey, Executive Producer and Managing Director, Dancing Ledge Productions, said: “We are so excited that BAFTA nominated Jasmine Jobson - one of the most brilliant acting talents to emerge in the last few years – is our lead in Platform 7. You do know she doesn’t like me all that much, don’t you?” How does Matty separate Lisa from her friends? Darren is feeling overwhelmed by the outcomes that he needs to achieve, so he’s identified clear learning objectives with his practice supervisor. As Evans’s ghost can now see past and future, her partner’s former girlfriend, and also Shelley, the single mother with whom Matty will have another child, perhaps a story as well told as hers can open the eyes of the reader to patterns of behaviour that may be entirely plausible but can destroy and kill. She had an appendectomy performed two days ago where an abscess was found, now she has an elevated temperature of 38ºC and her wound is looking inflamed. IV antibiotics have been prescribed and administered over the last 48 hours.

So, if one were to write a novel set in Peterborough, where would it begin? There is, of course, with its fine west front, the magnificent cathedral, where Catherine of Aragon is buried and St Oswald’s uncorrupted arm was once kept. Yet, stunning and beautiful though it may be, the cathedral is not even mentioned in Platform Seven — perhaps a reflection of the fact that, although it is widely visible, for many of the diverse communities that make up this city it is not a place of shared identification and ownership. Doughty’s description of the former is, to use that word again, haunting. Through the eyes of Evans’s ghost, who can not only pass through physical doors but also see past, present, and future, we enter into the apparent logic, and begin to see the patterns of, coercive control. They are described in the “matter-of-fact” manner of one who believes, and yet knows she can do so only by suspending her unbelief and her sense of what is acceptable and proportionate — essentially, her sense of self.

understand the mechanisms that can be used to influence organisational change and public policy, demonstrating the development of political awareness and skills. Yet Platform Seven is neither a ghost story nor a murder mystery. Seeing the plot unravel through the eyes of the ghost of Evans is an interesting twist on the idea of an omniscient narrator. Perhaps it is more than that: Evans’s ghost, like all ghosts, can pass through doors, and go with apparent ease where the living struggle to go or fear to tread. Thus, fiction can be a way to reflect on matters of life and death which may be too painful to explore in real life, real though they may be to those who encounter them. This is, perhaps, true of historic sexual abuse, but also of coercive control and suicide, two of the subjects explored in Platform Seven. Readers who liked Before I Go to Sleep by SJ Watson will enjoy The Perfect Wife, JP Delaney’s futuristic twist on the story of an amnesiac wife with a secretive husband. Abbie wakes with no memory of how she ended up in a hospital bed. Tim, her husband, is beside her, crying with joy; a Silicon Valley genius, he explains to her that she’s “artificial. Intelligent, conscious… but manmade” – a companion robot, or cobot, created five years after Abbie’s death.

Church Times/RSCM:

Darren and his practice supervisor, Grace, agree that they’ll both need to support and coach the other two student nurses to care for the three women, especially with some of the more complex conversations and communications that were needed.

The 4x60” series will be adapted by acclaimed and multi award-winning screenwriter Paula Milne (Him, The Politician’s Husband, White Heat) from the globally renowned bestselling novel of the same title by Louise Doughty. Powerhouse screenwriter Paula Milne’s brilliant scripts, based on Louise Doughty’s best-selling novel, have also attracted a stunning supporting cast alongside Jasmine; Toby Regbo, Yaamin Chowdhury, Reece Ritchie and the incomparable Phil Davis also star and this combination, along with our superb creative team behind the camera, promise to deliver a properly compelling story that will delight and surprise audiences on ITVX later this year.”One of the least successful aspects of this book is that it tries, and doesn't really succeed, in combining two different genres and concepts together.
