I then ran the test again, only this time I connected a brand new HDMI lead running it straight from the Humax to the TV. Again bang on 15 minutes before record time the same - momentary picture break-up, freezing and pixilation. In both cases the destination and source exchange data (EDID) to identify what the destination supports. Various suggestions were offered and I tried different HDMI cables, different leads, re-routed them etc. It was also mentioned that the Panasonic TVs HDMI auto select might be the culprit.

And what an excellent PVR it is. There are lots of nice touches, such as being able to set global record padding, to prevent you missing the beginning or end of something and customisable time skipping so you don't have to watch the ad's. You can also create folders to prevent your recordings from getting cluttered on-screen and picture quality is also top-notch. Which ever model it is there are many things that can go wrong with it. To fix it you will need to narrow down what is wrong with it. With out doing that any 'fix' will just be a guess. Of course, it does all the stuff you would expect, too, and setting recordings, whether single or series, really is the proverbial child's play and the interface is always on hand should you run into recording clashes or forget (how could you?) that something was available in HD. The problems began once I started to use the 2000T ( I already own a HDR-1000s freetime box). I noticed that every time the 2000T entered a partial wake-up state in readiness to record a programme (15 minutes prior to programme start) I would lose the TV's own tuner signal for anything between 10 and 30 seconds (blank screen). The HDMI hub I am using would show an active connection at this point.None of the solutions worked and so I have ended up using a passive splitter (less than a couple of quid). The splitter appears to be much the better option. No degradation of TV signal and no more problems with switching. I can now also use the low power state to save extra pennies. The 500GB hard disk and dual tuner are standard fare these days, but less common is the range of network features, which includes a range of internet content and DLNA streaming of media files across a home network. The HDR-2000T's twin tuners allow two channels to be recorded at once but a nice bonus is that you can also watch and timeshift a third channel at the same time. The timeshift buffer lasts up to two hours. Here is how I can reproduce the symptoms of momentary break up during the switch to active standby, the described activity on the USB ports and the described activity on the HDMI port (all of which I cannot get near reproducing when power saving is 'OFF') ...... :

It's nothing to do with Humax or any other makers, it's purely down to the limitations of the EDID data exchange between different makers destination devices. HDR-2000T is a Freeview+ box and has limited on demand services. It can however export recordings for use with other kit. (Even HD using a small programme by Raydon). It also has DLNA server and client, so you can remotely view SD recordings on other kit like smart phones and tablets. It can also replay content stored on other kit (like a PC). Additionally it has manual timers and autopadding. It does however appear to have HDMI handshake issues with some TV's. My Humax 2000T Freeview has been reliable but today nothing happens when I press the stand-by button on the remote or that on top of the box. The Remote has new batteries and the power supply delivers 12V. When I use the aerial pass through I get no signal at the TV but the aerial connected direct to the TV is fine so I presume the internal psu may be faulty. Please would you confirm he model? The Humax HDR-2000T does not have a button on top of the box. The on/off touch area is located on the front of the HDR-2000T.My unit is out of warranty so will have to open it up. Anyone have a link telling me what the fault is and the components needed?

Live TV App, when installed on a mobile device and paired with the FVP-5000T when in the home, provides a multi-room solution for viewing TV in another room. Placing the HDR-2000T in to standby with power saving on at least 40 minutes before the recording then reproduces the initial standby symptoms that were described The hdmi splitter I have worked perfectly with my Humax HB1000S and a Humax HD Fox T2 together on both a Samsung tv, and (for experimental purposes) on a Panasonic tv. I have also used my Humax Foxsat HDR with this hdmi splitter without any issues.

Device works flawlessly using a splitter. The fault if it is correct to call it that has to be with the loop-through side of the 2T as it's present when no connection by HDMI is present. Frankly your comments show you have little or no understanding of the issues involved in splitting a HDMI output to multiple devices with differing capabilities.
