About this deal

Than after another 4 or 5 days everyting took a turn for the worse. My devices stayed connected to WiFi but every ten to thirty minutes internet access disappeared. Only sollution as mentioned a lot seemed to be disconnecting from the WiFi and reconnecting. But the connection issues kept returning. I've changed the positions of the deco units. Cnhaged the ethernet cables between the main unit and the modem. Turned everything off and on. Reset everything. Last thing I did was to disconnect both slaves and use only the main deco.

The Eero 6 has a Zigbee hub built in, which could be handy if you have Philips Hue or other Zigbee-based smart home devices. The TP-Link Deco P9 is an 802.11ac wireless mesh network system, which can either replace your router or operate in access point mode to extend an existing router’s wireless network. However, that said, if you simply want the fast speeds that the XT9 can deliver on newer devices then it’s still a fine choice. Clients need to support 802.11k/v and may require additional setup. Performance may vary depending on the client device. Uses your home's electrical wiring to create stronger connections between Deco units, reducing the impact of walls or other obstacles on signalNote that the satellites in the kit aren’t identical to the main router: they don’t have any Ethernet ports (unlike the original Eero) which could be a deal-breaker if you need to connect a PC or any other device that doesn’t have Wi-Fi. The conclusion is clear: in a regular domestic setting, a good quality Wi-Fi-only mesh system is likely to give you better performance than the Deco P9’s hybrid approach. Speed is one thing, but coverage is just as important. This isn’t always proportional to price. Mesh kits usually include two or three devices – called nodes – which communicate with each other wirelessly and provide a single Wi-Fi network over a much larger area than a single router can. Your devices will disconnect from one node and connect to a closer one as you move around your home. At all ends and corners of the house – even out in the conservatory – we've been able to get speedy and stable connections about on a par with what we were getting from our old router (and in some cases the connection seems to have improved). If you've got several floors or a peculiarly shaped house, then you might really feel the benefit.

With all 3 units installed in the attic, main floor and basement of my 4,000 square foot home I was able to enjoy complete coverage.

Boosted Speeds: Wi-Fi + Powerline Hybrid Bandwidth

Wired: Turn off the Wi-Fi (if any) on your computer and connect to the router using an Ethernet cable. That's why I decided to go down the TP-Link route so I could take advantage of the Mesh technology. There’s an argument for still getting Wi-Fi 6E for future proofing, but there’s a snag there too: Wi-Fi 7 is faster and better still. Sure, those kits are considerably more expensive, and any Wi-Fi 6E mesh system has the same problems, but it means the Velop Pro 6E is likely only to appeal to early adopters with Wi-Fi 6E devices, and especially those in the US where the kit is noticeably cheaper than it is in the UK. Prior to buying (wasting my money?) the P9s I was using Devolo powerline plugs to extend both my wired and wifi network.

Another benefit – if you already have an Asus router that supports AiMesh – is that you can pair it with the XT9 and upgrade your existing system and get even bigger coverage. There’s no dedicated wireless band for the nodes to talk to each other as you get with other Velop Pro systems, but none of these things are deal-breakers. READ NEXT: Best mesh Wi-Fi – the best way to extend your home’s wireless network TP-Link Deco P9 review: What you need to know If the name doesn’t give the game away, this is a Wi-Fi 6E mesh system. Linksys has kept the price down by making a few compromises such as putting only 1Gbps Ethernet ports on each node, despite the fact that the Pro 6E is capable of faster speeds than that. As with some of the others here, to take advantage of the fast Wi-Fi speeds you’ll need compatible phones, laptops or other devices that support 160MHz channels. And with devices that do, it’s possible to get over 1Gbps.Anyway. Installing went great. My original modem/router was put in bridge mode and I connected the main deco and two slaves pretty easily. The main deco was situated in the meter cupboard on the ground floor. The first slave on the first floor and the second slave on the second floor. For about a week things looked great. WiFi speed almost matched the ethernet/wired speed.

They worked faultlessly but weren't Mesh. Even though I set up the SSIDs on the Devolo wifi units to the same as my main router, wegot breaks in connection as we moved around the house with portable devices.Whole Home Coverage: Cover up to 6,000 sq. ft. with seamless, high-performance WiFi that eliminates dead zones and buffering. † TP-Link’s Deco PX50 is the best mesh Wi-Fi system for most people. That’s because it’s easy to set up, provides good speeds that should be faster than your broadband speed and is a sensible compromise between price and the very latest tech.
