About this deal

When a cruise captain is rescued after his ship goes missing, the coast gourd is suspicious, and the InvestiGators take the job. I will keep repeating it every chance I get: if you have a kid who doesn’t love reading, they have been reading the wrong books. Unsinkable detectives Mango and Brash are back in InvestiGators: All Tide Up, a high seas adventure that takes the hit series by John Patrick Green to uncharted waters! John Green grew up on Long Island and has worked in New York City ever since graduating from School of Visual Arts for Graphic Design in 1997. There are so many puns that it can be a little much at times, but I suspect that kids would not catch all of them, and they and the malapropisms are definitely used as teachable moments for early and developing readers.

I read this book with my son (8) who is a huge fan and collects all InvestiGator's books--he absolutely LOVED it and can't wait to get his hands on a copy! According to him, “you don’t need any sort of learning apps to read, you just need to find the right book. We love snuggling up and reading these as a family, and I’m already excited to discover what Mango and Brash get up to on their next adventure. My son loves this graphic novel and finds it hilarious - Mini Travellers Blog You may also be interested in. InvestiGators (Volume 1) • InvestiGators: Take the Plunge • InvestiGators: Off the Hook • InvestiGators: Ants in Our P.I enjoy graphic novels and this one was another winner that will be at the top of my list for my patrons. References to past adventures in this one, so it may be confusing/spoilers for anyone totally new to the series. If your young reader is looking for something to fill a Dogman-shaped hole in their personal libraries, let alligator investigators Mango and Brash step in.

A missing cruise ship and passengers, ghosts, pirates, high seas adventure, and a bounty of pirate puns… All Tide Up will keep readers of all ages laughing out loud over Mango and Brash’s antics as they don pirate gear, do their best to talk like pirates, and go undercover to locate hundreds of missing passengers from the infamous pirate ghost, Willy Nilly. And can the InvestiGators unravel this maritime mystery before a second cruise befalls a similarly unfathomable fate? With a book series like this (and, to be honest, all by this author), every kid will learn to love books. He was the comics consultant for Disney Adventures magazine, and in addition to Disney has written, illustrated, or otherwise worked on comics for Nickelodeon, Dreamworks, Scholastic, DC Comics, and First Second Books. We love Mango and Brash, and this book about a missing cruise ship and a ghost pirate named Willy Nilly is a lot of fun!

Like the heroes of Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man or Captain Underpants, the Investigators are bound to resonate with kids. In high-intensity colors, straightforward panel artwork by Green (Hippopotamister) offers plenty of slapstick gags to Brash and Mango’s tale. This one also is the 7th book in the series – what more can give a kid a confidence boost in their own ability to read and enjoy books that realization that HEEEEY THIS IS THE 7TH BOOK IN THE SERIES I’M READING NOW? Like the previous six books, it was full of talking animals, investigating, adventures, and silliness. With a detailed comic-strip format, lots of toilet humour and zany plot lines, you will be pestered for the sequel before it's published. My creative team (my 14, 10, and 7 year old boys and myself) really enjoyed the opportunity to read the advance copy of this book. My son read it in one sitting and immediately offered to read it to his little brother because he liked it so much. Here a cruise ship captain is rescued from the sea, sans cruise ship – and whisked away by a billionaire employer before the truth can come out.

Thank you NetGalley and First Second Books for the ARC of InvestiGators: All Tide Up by John Patrick Green. As a mother and teacher I love that InvestiGators appeals to a wide range of ages and reading levels. Honestly, he was asking about so much that I would not be surprised if, at the end, someone, somehow, swapped the bodies of Mango and a seven-year-old.Even when there is potty humor in the book (though I was grateful that there was only one small potty humor part in this book since those are not my personal favorites). Follow the silly, fun filled, pun soaked adventure by the duo and get shocked by the twist at the end.
