Description

What They Don’t Teach You About Money” is an indispensable guide that unveils the secrets behind efficient financial habits. Claer has written “What They Don’t Teach You About Money” to be not just a book; but a beacon of hope in challenging times!

Claer frequently appears on TV and radio - from weekly appearances on ITV's Lorraine to LBC with Eddie Mair - answering money questions from the public. Although the book is read/delivered well, all the facts here are extremely basic and I would be surprised if people were already not aware of them. Habits that get us the best deals and make our money work harder for us, rather than bolstering the coffers of others. It was a day of piercing cold and as I walked through the twilight from the Sheldonian to Christ Church, the streets were empty and the whole city was shutting itself away. It does this really well, and gives you the financial insights you needed yesterday, to enable you to make a better financial plan for tomorrow. The consumer editor at the Financial Times, she presents the FT's weekly Money Clinic podcast, helping listeners resolve their real-life financial dilemmas.

She is renowned as a trusted voice guiding people through the cost-of-living crisis with her trademark practical advice that cuts through financial jargon. Hearst UK is the trading name of the National Magazine Company Ltd, 30 Panton Street, Leicester Square, London, SW1Y 4AJ. Tim HarfordTV and radio money-agony-aunt Claer Barrett is the voice of reason in the cost of living crisis, teaching us what we need to know about money, in an accessible way that anyone can understand. I finished the book with 5 actions I can take to improve my relationship with money, which you don’t often get from this type of book - would definitely recommend to anyone trying to get to grips with their money! From revealing what 'credit' really means (spoiler alert, it's not as positive as they'd like you to think) to the lie that you can easily make money off property, she'll debunk the pervasive money myths perpetuated by those who profit the most from our ignorance.

Unpicking Psychology: Discover the psychology behind our money habits and how to break free from their grip. In applying a more human and sociological take on finance, Claer analyses the intersection between debt, finances, and mental health in the workplace.

The rules were different in those days — there was no auto enrolment — and I didn't think it would be worth it as I'd probably move on and work somewhere else. Nevertheless, I found the description of the different characters in the relationship with money interesting and also the reasoning why one should really work with money without emotions. Ebury Edge has pre-empted Claer Barrett’s “essential” book What They Don’t Teach You About Money: Seven Habits that Unlock Financial Independence. Interest rates, reasons for and against credit cards, to understanding how the way we handle money is cemented from our childhood experience with money, this book touches on all the must-read topics to ensure a successful and plentiful money future.Debunking Credit: Gain a fresh perspective on what “credit” truly means and navigate the pitfalls associated with it. Clare Barrett takes out much of the mysticism and jargon surrounding money and provides useful guidance wherever you are in your career and at whatever level. I have to say I knew, and already follow most of this, but it was good to hear a few different takes on the same thing. Co by som vyzdvihol, je cast o investiciach, o dlhoch, o archetypoch ludi pokial ide o vztah k peniazom.

The one thing I particularly loved about this book is how the title perfectly encapsulates the lessons that are learned whilst reading. Claer Barrett will unveil the reasons why so many of us lack confidence, and why we stay stuck in financial paralysis. I would recommend people this book if you are stuck on your finances or want to know more on the subject. At the start, I thought the idea of the money personality quiz was quite corny, but when I continued to read through the book, it made more sense to me about how much of a negative impact the one I identified with was having in my financial life. It is also predominantly written for the perspective of a full-time employee, only vaguely does she cover the same concepts (such as pensions and taxes) for Freelancers.Luckily I was proved wrong and found this book really insightful and concise, the author‘s personality really shone which made it an enjoyable read and I have some clear action points for the future.
