The CD version of Now 8 was going to include 17 of the vinyl’s 32 tracks while the aforementioned five tracks were selected from the “missing 15” i. Usually my kids listen to the CD (which is why we have only just noticed the problem with the MP3s) - but this evening I had to do some extreme editing at short notice. Now I can rock out to all these amazing songs in my car while I run errands or just go for a nice long drive.

Meanwhile the four remaining songs had appeared on Hits 4, Now Dance ’86 and one more tune that’s never been compiled on CD since then - EDIT: until very recently.i.am's song "Bang Bang" is a brand new mix featuring vocals from Leah McFall, previously unavailable on any format. Foxes would have got a double appearance had this song been included as her debut single 'Youth' is on here. A further release, The Final Chapter, a deluxe 4-CD and 3-LP set, was issued in December 2022, rounding off the Yearbook years 1980 to 1984. The stunning visuals of the city of London at night with a full moon backdrop and glittering snowfall falling onto a lake of ice makes this one of the finest artworks in the series. Some of the Special Editions have identical names, although a few of these titles are followed by their year of release.

Each release is issued as a limited edition mini-hardback book, with the CDs in sleeves forming the pages of the ' yearbook' which contains an introductory overview of the year, original 7" single artwork, trivia, chart positions and a quiz. The presentation of each release has evolved notably over time: from 1986 through to 2013, all double and triple CD sets were released in chubby Jewel cases which could hold up to 6 discs. The Special Editions series includes a wide range of Now anniversary collections, different music genres, eras, and decades, as well as commercial tie-ins with Smash Hits, Disney, Eurovision, HMV and the Official Chart Company. Since the release of Now 102 in Easter 2019, the corresponding Now album from 100 volumes ago has been re-compiled and re-issued on 2-CD sets on the same day.a great early Now compilation, one of the very first released on CD - please be aware that the listing above is INCORRECT - this is a SINGLE CD with 16 tracks on it. Seven of them had already appeared on Now 7, five tracks would feature on Now 8 with the remaining four being “exclusive” to Now’s main series. When I considered carefully the omissions there were very few I would have opted to have included, the only ones I would have wanted were Neon Jungle and Tinie Tempah feat.
