My feeling is that reading these cards gives to allow new potential a different perspective and although the artist may have been given mandate to follow some precepts it is clear that not all the cards link especially easily with tradition. The card illustrations depict the gods and goddesses, heroes and heroines of the Greek myths - familiar archetypal characters whose experiences perfectly mirror the shifts and patterns of our lives today. I have been a tarot card reader for many years now, and have been reading with the Rider-Waite for all this time. She’s co-authored a couple of titles with Liz Greene, including The Mythic Tarot and The Mythic Journey, the former of which included a tarot deck and was based on Greek myths. shrug*) Each figure is associated with their own story, and while they’re a bit harder to remember than the Majors they still serve the purpose.

Fortunately, I purchased the original deck when it first came out, and it has been my trusty friend over the years. I have particularly liked this deck because original higher arcana cards that I struggle to interpret such as ‘The Devil’ and the ‘Hierophant’ have a more palatable symbolism. Retold here in concise and accessible form by Liz Greene and Juliet Sharman-Burke, these dramatic and exciting tales reveal profound truths that are reflected in every facet of our lives today. The illustrations provide numerous opportunities to build and fashion a reading by way of using quite different prompts and triggers.

Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. The designers have done an impressive job keeping the meanings and portrayal of each card close to tradition, whilst giving each card an extra layer of meaning, so anyone with a basic knowledge of RWS should have no problem transferring their knowledge to this deck. I haven't bought the Mythic deck yet as I can't afford it but I find I manage well with this book using my usual deck. This Mythic Deck was one of the first tarot card decks I bought, so I was enchanted to find this app. Every card of the Major Arcana is based on a story or figure from Greek mythology, and most of us are at least a little familiar with that without trying. Whenever any theme is applied to a tarot deck there is a risk that the basic structure of tarot will be overwhelmed, leaving a collection of images with no underlying meaning holding them together.Not only does the image truly inspire, but it also conveys the happy, positive and ‘fast-fast’ pace of the energy that this card always brings about.
