About this deal

We also offer a range of source connector options, including standard TRS jacks, XLRs and newer balanced connection options. Passion for music unites every component from signal to speaker, so it feels like the artist is performing right in front of you. Additionally, the MDR-1AM2 manages to keep sibilance well under-control despite the treble emphasis. We think that if you’re in the market for the Sony MRD-1A headphones, you probably have looked at the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 headphones as well – making this comparison very useful in your headphones decision-making process and something that we think a lot of people will find extremely useful.

All Peter Tyson Extended Warranties are only valid for the original purchaser and are not transferable. Both the MV1 and 1AM2 have a decent level of detail and power that aims for an engrossing but natural display of low-end frequency content. They’re not quite as clear as some of the highest-end headphones at CES but, for the money, they look to be an ideal introduction to Sony’s ever-expanding world of hi-res audio.

And second is is it possible to get original 1AM2 pads from Sony or are there good aftermarket replacements that don't alter the sound too much? I’ve been though the 770 (too much treble, tight headband) and the Meze (great sound but uncomfortable), and I’ve been tempted to try the DT 177x, but haven’t managed to convince myself, esp. I have found the headphones I will use for at least the next 10 years, probably longer considering these already cover a frequency range that is beyond realistic human hearing.

Also maybe check out the focal elex and elear, aren’t really like a sony but the bass and mids impact are ludicrous, recommended. The bass is pretty identical to the bass levels that were found in the Sony MRD-1A headphones with being deep and high-pitched with frequency ranging from 3 Hz to 100 kHz. Harmonicdyne zeus, widely recommended, easy to drive, should have enough warmth and sparkle reminiscent of sony sound, with great soundstage and detail. I don’t remember their imaging or soundstage to be stand out characteristics so I think they were probably average. Open-back headphones are better for spatial audio mixing, but you can use closed-back headphones too. They have padding on either side of the ear cups which is made from a synthetic leather and creates almost an anti-pressure effect.

These headphones are so comfortable that I find myself using them every day despite their unagreeable FR. The precision sound and full-spectrum clarity of the MDR-1AM2 headphones captures the hearts of music lovers everywhere. Overall, it’s not a super high tech headphone, but instead to be designed to have a great sound and work great. Camera Centre UK Ltd trading as Camera Centre UK is a credit broker and is Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We tried out the Sony MDR 1AM2 headphones in different settings and situations to truly test out if it holds up to the headphones and headset test.Their interior designs are quite simple, and although they carry different impedances, they’re both low enough to be driven from any source.
