If you’ve ever shot from a small ledge, on a muddy shoreline or even knee deep in water, you’ll know how convenient this is as you literally can’t put your bag down! I placed the sternum strap in the middle loop to see if it would fit women well, and it actually does. As a tall-ish person (5’ 11”), I’ve had some camera bags that don’t come all the way down my back, which I find annoying and awkward. The components of the harness are made from the known aeronautics T6 aluminium used in parachutes or aircraft suits, so that the combination of their exceptional strength and ultra light weight. The inside of the rear camera access panel has been completely redesigned for this version of the bag. The Tilopa BC has a space for the laptop which is mysteriously positioned next to a pocket for your Hydration bladder, a head scratcher for sure.
Whether it was the little kid in me that thought trying this bag would get me to be get out and do something more adventurous that would require a hardcore rugged backpack like the F-Stop Tilopa, or just that it looked like a cool ass bag to test out, I said yes. I find it fiddly, particularly when wearing gloves, and it makes too much noise if you’re trying to approach wildlife discreetly. With my load out full to the gills and a carbon fiber tripod with heavy video head, I was still comfortable.
