Although we’ve only used the Coleman Camp Oven on one occasion, I can say with confidence that reliable baking is fully possible in the field. Since there's nothing I hate more than washing dishes while camping, I picked up a few foil pans at Ocean State Job Lot for about 25 cents a piece and they were perfect - and more importantly, disposable. We sought a cooking lesson from local friends and learned making the proper flour isn’t as evident as it looks. We got fed up doing that every morning and the whole plan was abolished after a couple of weeks or months. If you have small children, you will need to use this item with caution and warn everyone not to touch it.

Coleman have advised no spare parts for this oven are made at all, so it's not possible for us to get our hands on an additional rack for you. Yeah I am impressed a lot and it is a nice equipment one must carry while camping; I like the Coleman Camp Oven features.I'd not use one over a canister stove due to potential overheating the butane canister but I have used them over a Nova and a 413G Coleman twin burner. I get perfect muffins and cinnamon rolls when I bake them 100 degrees below the temperature I would use in a regular home oven (250 degrees instead of 350 degrees). The Hyperflam is also an incredibly powerful stove, and you may not be able to get the flame control required for best results.

I especially appreciate your tips for adjusting the baking temperature when using this propane-fueled camp stove and oven combo. We can't think of any reason why this set up wouldn't work, they are designed to sit on top of a flat top gas stove, so as long at there aren't trivets that will stop the oven sitting over the burner then you should be ok. I also use two thin fire bricks, like for a wood burning stove, on the floor of the oven and that really helps hold and regulate the heat. It might be a tricky balance of replacing coals to get it to hold at a good temperature, but it's certainly worth a try. Inside there’s a rack which adjusts to three heights for different recipes and there’s an easy to read thermometer for temperature monitoring.Wish I had known about this Coleman Camp Oven in the days I used a Coleman stove for all the camping we did. I’ve had good luck with a GSI anodized aluminum Dutch oven with the aluminized Backpackers Pantry Pot 12″ Parka over it. So, our conclusion: we don’t use it as much as we did but because it does take little space, it’s worth carrying for the occasional need or want.

I used a postal bag from heavy duty cotton, and used it now 10 times or so, still going strong without suffering of the heat.For some this is not that evident 😉 and the grate has to sit in the middle option for most recipies, so also the bread.

Such additions seem to even out the heat distribution and along with a reliable thermometer make the oven a useable item. Falling under one of my 3 pillars of successful overland travel, “good food”, the Coleman Camp Oven may be the next item we add to our Overland loadout. When I purchased this oven for a camping trip, it never once crossed my mind that I would find myself thankful for its use during an extended power outage at my primary residence.

My goodness, Diana - I had no idea you were a baker in addition to your many other impressive talents! Its a shame extra insulation is needed to keep the heat in properly but easily overcome with some ingenuity. The first use of the Coleman folding oven didn't go to plan and my cinnamon swirls were effectively turned to carbon along with the baking paper.
