About this deal

It's been brought to my attention that I am in fact completely wrong regarding the distribution of Skills and Domains in Spire as opposed to Heart, and I must apologize for that.

Gnolls are the hyena-headed people of the far south; a nation with advanced technology built of their mastery of demonology, that's currently fighting an on-off war with the Aelfir. It gives you a chance to completely steal the scene, overcome impossible odds, and end your character’s (adventuring) life on your terms. From their location, they need to venture deeper into the Heart, to Hang Station and the underground lake.If you enjoyed reading this, consider following our writing staff on Twitter, where you can find Cameron and Edgar.

Obviously the main change is the available skills are mostly different, with the exception of Sneak and Compel. The second is an indentured agent of the aelfir lord (Forced) who makes the mistake of picking up a badge of the 33rd and is now slowly being taken over by the idea that it's good to protect other people. It bears a certain similarity to the advancement system that is used in Chronicles of Darkness, but it helps to signpost particular story elements, tightly focusing things on a particular kind of story, with a particular kind of feeling. After their brush with death, they are looking to up their chances to achieve godhood on the grail road. For NPCs, stress is generally applied against a single resistance value - once this is gone, the NPC is defeated/driven off/successfully persuaded. Their single Core Ability is Ministrations - they can lead a group in a ritual that will clear Minor Blood or Mind fallout, or reduce Major fallout to Minor, but it takes time (and makes a Delve harder if you're part-way through). Once per session, roll Compel + Cursed to summon the personification of an ongoing minor Blood, Mind, or Echo fallout and remove it. And there’s no random encounter tables or even a roll to suggest the nature of the next obstacle – which is fine so long as the GM/Heart knows what should happen next, but leaves them floundering otherwise.
