One of my readers told me that the Jx was a significant improvement over the popular Baratza Virtuoso. I’ve yet to be let down by a 1Zpresso grinder, and it’s safe to say that, with the K-Ultra, the brand has done it again. However, if you prefer a typical medium to medium-light roast and brewing at a standard 1:15 ratio, then I think the standard burr set will be just fine for your needs. If you are looking for a very precise amount of grounds, you need to weigh your coffee beans beforehand to avoid wastage and for the best coffee extraction results. Doing so will require a separate scale. Timemore C2is another popular entry level option. It’s a bit cheaper than the Q2 but the construction also feels a bit less premium. Since it uses the same burrs as the pentagonal Q2, it’s very similar flavor wise. However, it is a significantly faster grinder, which makes it more suitable as an everyday option.

I wasn’t a big fan of the old version of the Skerton. The new version, which was released in 2017, however, has upped its game significantly. However, if your main focus is the J-series and how these more espresso-focused grinders work (including the new flagship product J-Max), then keep on reading. One of the most common complaints I hear from other coffee lovers is that their electric grinder is broken and needs repair. That’s not fun at all. So it’s worth finding a sturdy grinder you can rely on.The K-Max also has a magnetic catch cup. Again, this is a pleasure to use. It might seem like a small thing, but it’s so convenient. What would a review of manual coffee grinders be without at least a mention of one of the ancient German classics? The Jx basic version is faster:It’s almost a true 1 second per gram grinder. It takes me about 25-30 seconds to grind my typical pour over dose of 20 grams of coffee. It’s by far the fastest manual grinder I have tried. Thanks to the variety of models available, you can be specific as to what you are looking for. Doing so will ensure you get your perfect coffee grinder. The warranty does not cover damage such as rust or wear and tear as we cannot guarantee the product’s usage or storage.

That said, the smoothness of the mechanism will dictate how easy and fast your hand grinding experience will be. And there is no fault there when it comes to the 1Zpresso JX Pro . Depending on how fine a grind you are after, it will take around 30 seconds. Size Now it is important to clarify at this point that just because the JX is not advertised as being able to produce fine adjustments (explained by the slightly larger burr size 48mm vs 47mm in the JE) required for dialling in espresso shots with high precision, this does not mean the JX cannot produce espresso-level grinds - it most definitely can and with a great deal of consistency. A lot of our customers have expressed a great deal of satisfaction in pulling espresso shots using their JX, but if you are the type of prosumer who loves that extra edge of precision over and above the rest - you'd be pushed into getting either the JE, JE-plus or JX-pro. K Ultra is an enhanced version of the now discontinued K-Max by 1Zpresso. Introducing enhanced creature-comfort features such as a foldable crank handle and smoothed edges in its design.

Size & Portability? Ifyou want to bring your grinder on a trip, size is important to consider. Also, if you have smaller hands, you don’t want something that’s difficult to hold. The grounds bin itself is relatively simple. It screws on and off easily, and doesn’t create much static. It emphasizes balance and nuance when it comes to drip coffee and espresso. It’s a lovely flavor profile. The JX-Prois one of the most popular and affordable espresso grinders. When we say affordable, meaning it costs a fraction of the price of a premium espresso grinder that offers the same grind consistency and quality. Indeed, it only costs a similar price as an entry-level electric burr grinder. Overall, it’s an extremely high-performance hand grinder with great value. The only real downside to the JX-Pro is that it is a manual coffee grinder. But, that’s kinda the point and if that is what you are looking for then you don’t really need to look any further. Especially as it performs on par with many (more expensive) electric grinders.
