Description

It goes through such a transformation in color, shape, texture, and clarity from its raw shape to its tumbled shape that it is interesting to know the “why’s” and “how’s” of the mineral to see how they affect the tumbling process. Easy to Open – This is one of the easiest barrels to open as it comes with a washer that you use to lift the lid.

The instructions also contain fun facts about each mineral and information about how the tumbling process works in relation to how the natural process of smoothing and rounding is carried out. it comes with a detailed instruction Manuel that explains how to use the tumbler and how to get the best results Only One Speed– There is only one speed to this machine and it’s way too fast to give a proper polish without breaking the stones. To reiterate, the Lortone 3A wins because of its all-around value. Its simple, no-frills design affords it a reasonable cost while allowing the motor to run for years. Its hard rubber barrel ensures it’s among the quietest of the rotary tumblers and is made for at-home use. Reverse Setting– It has the ability to reverse the direction of the rotation so it gives more flexibility in the settings.

What ar the best rock tumblers for semi-precious stones and glass?

Spare parts are widely available and inexpensive. This is a big bonus because you may need a spare part right in the middle of a tumbling session I've been through the tumbling process in full, twice now. I honestly cannot think of any cons at this point. It's not to say that no one has had issues, but the machine I received functions perfectly and I have had no issues with leaks or ill-fitting pieces, tearing of the belt or anything of this nature. Mechanical parts break, that is just a fact of life. A sign of a tumbler that is built to last is that it will come with some spare parts, such as rubber belts connecting to the motor or a wrench. No Ceramic Media Filler – It doesn’t come with ceramic media filler so you would want to get that in addition ( this is the one I use).

A TUMBLER THAT'S MADE TO LAST – Our high-quality tumblers are made with a durable motor that’s designed to last for years. The leakproof rubber barrel reduces sound, making it 75% quieter than other plastic models. An excellent STEM activity for kids. It is also recommended that you use a face mask or dust mask to protect your lungs from any particles in the air created by grinding and polishing stones. Don’t forget to protect your hands with gloves, too!

Tumble Semi-precious stones with the Best Rock Tumbler.

DURABLE & QUIETER TUMBLER – Our high-quality tumbler stone polisher has a powerful motor that will last for years. Noise reducing leak-proof rubber barrel with stainless steel lid, which makes it durable and quieter than other plastic models. An excellent STEM activity for kids. While rotary tumblers allow you to change the shape of the stone vibratory ones are best in polishing. Their products work as described and you will never have to try to see through pounds of marketing façade to the real product.

Not Enough Stones– Even though the barrel is a huge 3 lbs, not enough stones are provided so you have to either get your own ( I got mine on Etsy) or find them. It has a similar design to the Lortone 3A – that we have found to be the most efficient design on the market.Multiple Speeds– There are 5 speeds you can use, allowing for even more flexibility in the process. Size and capacity: Consider the size and capacity of the tumbler. A smaller tumbler may be suitable for children or beginners, while a larger one may be better for more experienced users. While not as cheap as some tumblers on the market, it’s much quieter, longer-lasting, and just works better than cheaper models. In other words, the extra value gained by paying a bit more for a budget tumbler is well worth it. Now that you’ve decided on the ideal barrel size, you need to decide on the tumbler type. Rotary vs. Vibratory Tumblers Lortone is a family-owned business based out of the Northwest. Like many smaller companies in the giant lapidary field, everything about them is face value and no-nonsense.

No Filler– It doesn’t come with any filler so the stones aren’t protected throughout the process, leading to broken or very small stones. Foam Filler– The foam filler not only helps a bit to reduce the noise, but it also acts as a filler to protect the stones and give a better polish. A TUMBLER THAT'S MADE TO LAST - The durable motor has time and speed control settings so you can set it, and forget it. An improved, leak-proof barrel features a stainless-steel lid is 75% quieter overall than plastic tumbler barrels. Difficult to Open –I found this barrel difficult to open. The screw itself is easy, but the insert is sealed in tight. No Stones or Grit– Since this is intended to be used for jewelry polishing, it doesn’t come with stones or grit so you will need to buy those separately.
