The scent will not last as long as the waxed pine cones (probably about a week or so), but you can easily sprinkle on more cinnamon whenever you need it. And kids love to paint on the glue and sprinkle the cinnamon. 😉 Materials Needed Let it sit for a few hours while the pine cones absorb the oils to get the strongest scent possible.

In your mix & pour funnel pitcher, combine 1 oz of fragrance oil with 3 oz of Body & Room Spray Base. There are two main ways to make Christmas pine cones. Method #1 – Using Concentrated Essential Oils

NOTE: Pure essential oils are very strong and will eat away at plastic if left in a plastic container for any length of time. I used my awesome glass spray bottle from Grove for this project so that my plastic ones weren’t ruined. If you do use a plastic spray bottle, dump out any leftover essential oil and water mixture immediately after you are done. If you use the glass spray bottle you can leave the mixture for however long you’d like, and use it to re-spray the pinecones later if they start to lose their scent! You may apply for a transparent acrylic sealer or spray varnish to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of pine cones. Spray the pine cones with a light, equal layer, and let them air dry completely. It keeps the cones dry and preserves their aesthetic quality for crafts and decorations. Start by placing the pine cones on a foil-lined baking sheet and preheat your oven to 200° Fahrenheit. Bake the pine cones for one hour, keeping the oven at 200Âș Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place pine cones onto the pan so that they are not touching. Cinnamon Essential Oil has a sweet, spicy, and warm aroma with woody undertones that provides stimulating benefits. It is a natural mood enhancer making it a popular choice for at-home aromatherapy. Blood Orange Essential Oil They’re slow to break down and will last for years. The natural resin coating the cones makes them water-resistant, meaning water will slowly drip down to the soil rather than being soaked up by the cones. This feature also prevents soil erosion.

How To Make Cinnamon Scented Pinecones

From wreaths and ornaments to jewellery and bird feeders there are countless ways to use pine cones in your projects for both beginners and experienced crafters alike.

The easiest way to do this is to use essential oils, but if you don’t have essential oils, you can also use ground cinnamon to add that fun fall scent to your pinecones! How To Make Cinnamon Scented Pinecones If you have an abundance of pine cones and don’t want to save the same ones year after year, you can simply compost your cinnamon pine cones and start fresh again next year! These pine cones can also be burned in a fire pit! Cinnamon Scented Pine Cones FAQHow long will the scent last on the pine cones? The cinnamon fragrance from the oil should last for a few weeks. The more oil you use initially (2 drops per cone instead of 1) will extend how long they stay fragrant, but if you’re sensitive to smells, I’d start with one drop and go from there. mv_create key=”1″ type=”diy” title=”Cinnamon Scented Pine Cones” thumbnail=”https://simplejoy.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/cinnamon_scented_pine_cone_image-2.jpg”]Other great Christmas projects

Minimalist Centerpiece Scented Pinecones with these Fall Essential Oil Blends will fill your home with warm aromas during the Fall season. Because pine cones take so long to break down, you can reuse them for several years. And, leading to my next tip, you can add them to the compost pile once they do start to break down. 8. Put Pine Cones in the Compost Pile If your compost pile needs more ‘brown’ or dry additions, consider using pine cones. There are a few ways to add fragrance to pine cones, but my favorite is dabbing them with essential oils.
